Even the pros have trouble with the radio.

A Southwest Airlines crew having trouble copying an IFR clearance.

IFR read backs can be funny.

I should get back on schedule, of pod casts on the 1st and 15th . The commercial check ride gave me material I wanted to get out sooner. I have about six months of podcasts pre-recorded and did not want to wait until they were done. So when you see strange numbers like 11.75, they are just podcasts jammed in between others.

Podcast 10  Thoughts from the Flight Deck

Your host is Pilot Bill

Airports, flight schools and FBOs are their own worst enemy.

 Be a pilot  program.

Flight schools need to make the entrance inviting.

Flight schools need a good front person.

A friendly FBO/school lobby is most important.

Harborside Aviation (formally Anderson Aviation @ Punta Gorda), Florida Aviation Academy@ Pompano,  Euro American Aviation @ Naples.

Smoke town airport @Lancaster, Pa  for lunch.

Why are there not more young pilots?

  1. The cost of flying is incredibly high.

  4. The need for new, better movies and TV shows about flying.

Podcast 8  Flying with Mr. Garmin 430

Flight instructor Mr. Garmin helped me learn to fly the localizer.

Flying an ILS, localizer, or VOR can be a difficult skill to learn.

All of the books on Instrument flying devote very little space to the actual flying part.

This podcast is about my troubles over correcting on an approach, especially as I came closer to the localizer. With Mr. Garmin 430 as my coach, I found the way.

Podcast 7 The Demo Ride!

Your host is Pilot Bill

Thoughts from the Flight Deck

Flying the Liberty XL-2 ( this was an early one marked experimental)

First impression of the Garmin 430

Flying the Cirrus SR-22 Cirrus demo with pilot/salesman Eric Sanderman.

Not flying the Cessna 400 ( They take your name and don’t call you back!)

Take a demo ride, it beats just reading about airplanes.

Podcast 6 The Dreaded Stall!

 Your host is Pilot Bill

The Dreaded Stall! or how to fall out of the sky........

Stalling an airplane can lead to emotional scars.

Lack of preflight stall instruction is detrimental to a student’s future and can stall the new pilot’s progress. (Bad Joke)

Use of the Rudder, p-factor, coordinated flight and stalls.

The correct way to introduce a stall scenario.

Fly with pilot bill and relive stall training
